Dubai is a transient place with people coming in and going out of the country every single day. Expats who have come here for a while and have decided to repatriate end up at most auction sites or charity shops selling their things. There’s a very big market for second hand shops (online) here and [...]

Up until we came to Dubai and I am out working while Pristine stays at home with her dad, little girl had been literally my ’shadow’ — following me wherever I go, always tailing behind me everywhere. She would not even sleep if I don’t go to bed with her.
Hubby was a little envious of [...]

I know I am such a big fan of complaining. I am highly reactive to the behavior of the people around me, the circumstances and even the weather. M had been an avid listener to my woes and sometimes if he is not available, I ram my friends inbox with tons of email or chat [...]

Thank God we have finally moved. No more airplane noise, no more sneaking to cook and hopefully no more hand washing. We were not permitted to cook at the company guesthouse (but we did after Pristine had a very serious bout of stomach bug because of eating out) and there was no washing machine available.

We live in an area very near the airport. To be precise, all airplanes approaching Dubai International Airport has the obligation to pass right above our roof. With this one, I feel I could just jump and reach for it just like that!
This plane looks way bigger and noiser! when seen from the naked eye [...]

I am throwing all the prescription tablets from the ob-gyn. After missing my period for more than one month and feeling very, as in very bloated like a blowfish because of sever water retension, I finally went to the ob-gyn clinic to have myself checked. If you don’t know what it looks like to be [...]

Pristine is thrilled to go to school with yet another new uniform. A friend has asked me if it’s the norm as a three year old seems to be too young to have a ‘limited’ choice of wardrobe to be worn to school — yes, it’s kind of normal here to have uniforms. Most of [...]

Today Pristine starts another school. We finally found a school that I feel we will be happy about. The company I am working for right now is running an International School based on the English National curriculum and is located very near where we live. We toured the school last week and found out that [...]

Our new conquest for this week: Jumeirah Beach Park.
We had a wonderful lazy day at Jumeirah Beach Park. Somewhat outside the busy buzzing city streets, life on the beach was moving at a slower pace. The people were sunbathing, playing beach games or simply swimming. Although we didn’t bring our bathing suits with us, the [...]

In a few minutes we will welcome a worry-free weekend. We got the resident visa stickers on the passports and can finally relax, unwind or sleep more, if kid allows.
Time to hit the beach again. We will be going to Jumeirah Beach Park tomorrow and feel the sun and wriggle our feet in the powdery [...]
