driving madness
Posted in driving in UAE on 06/02/2008 03:30 pm by GraceM has a Friday-Saturday day off and I have only Fridays.
On Saturdays, he usually wakes up with me and drives me to the office, except for the times he wants to linger in bed and sleep which makes me so jealous.
Anyway, last Saturday, he showed no signs of waking up and taking me to work. With eyes still closed, he apologized and told me he can’t go and I’ll have to drive on my own to work. Well, no big deal. There’s not much traffic on Saturdays anyway (read: less aggressive drivers to deal on the road).
The driving was smooth and eventless until I came into one intersection. The left lane is congested with cars wanting to go left. I need to go straight but I can’t because of the cars blocking the way. When I looked back, cars were piling up behind me as well. I signalled to change to the right lane but almost instantly, all the cars behind me wanted to do the same thing. I waited and waited for my turn and when I was able to get out of the queue, the car behind me honked like crazy - like a madman who just discovered the highs of honking. I have no idea why he was acting like that. I was able to change my lane and he came beside me on my left, opened his window and blurted out words I don’t even want to know about. How ungentlemanly, how rude!
On the next intersection, I need to turn left. He was trailing behind me again and when I signalled to go left, he honked me again, sped and suddenly came in front of me! The uneducated driver from the jungle (where he must have learned how to drive with apes as instructors) had a sticker of his country’s FLAG at the back of his car.
The jerk was proud to present the whole world his idiotic driving and letting people know from what country he came from. How thick can he get?
