2008 is just here for three days and I am feeling that this is going to be an exciting year. How can I be wrong, I started the year with some excitement so the whole year should be full of it.
Yesterday, we went out to buy some wardrobe for winter. Winter. You read it right and I am so not kidding anyone. It’s starting to get cold and we are not equipped with clothing to warm us up. All our light winter or autumn pieces are left in Japan and lately, going out with short-sleeves is not the best idea, especially at night and in the mornings. After the almost unbearable summer just months ago, I couldn’t believe here we are trying to get something warm.
Anyway, after grabbing the stuff we need, we passed by a section where a Nintendo Wii is available to try, for free of course. No one was there. M called me and asked me to try. I am never fond of games. I don’t own any game console except for Nintendo DS where I play Brain Age (ahem). Grumbling, I tried to play tennis on the Wii. Guess what? I am instantly hooked!! I was there, unmindful of the people around me, swinging the gadget, hitting the imaginary ball and immensely enjoying myself, to my own surprise. Before I knew it, I even had my footwork match my strokes!
I won the game and I heard claps from around me, including my daughter who looked at me like I just won the Wimbledon cup. Yikes. When I turned back, there were people there. I put the gadget down and walked away. When we turned back after a few minutes, so many locals were carrying their Wii boxes to the counter.
Note: M actually thought of buying the machine when he went for business trip in Japan when he thought I might be interested. He called me up when he was in Akihabara. However, our talk was cut short at the mention of the words Nintendo Wii. “Are you crazy? It’s a waste of money and not to mention, my time!”
Ok, you can slap me silly now.

My family loves our Wii. We just got it back in October, and the kids and hubby play on it all the time.

My niece just got a Wii for Christmas and I’m hooked on Wii Sports. The tennis was hilarious and my favorite was bowling.
I also love my DS lite and the Brain Age game. I finally got my brain age down to 39 from 77! LOL!

I found you through your comment on Island Life and I have to ask, how did you end up living in Dubai? How exotic! That is one of the few places in the Middle East I would love to visit.
Oh yes, we have a Wii…and they are actually fun and addictive.

Oh my god, this post brought back memories. A good friend of mine has a wii and when I visited her last year her little son begged me to play some games with him. I hate all these game consoles with a vengeance and I felt like a complete idiot jumping around in front of a tv with this remote control thingy in my hand. But, well, the little one had fun – mostly because he won every single game, so that was alright. LOL
I just hope when I visit them next time the bloody thing will have been relegated to the cemetary of useless electronic junk… (one can hope, right?)

I can relate! I’m a Wii addict currently on the wagon.
Me too – the Wii is BIG fun!
My kids and husband want one but I don’t.
Everyone says “You’ll be hooked once you play it.”
Guess what, I played it 3 times over winter break. Not hooked. Don’t care.

We love the Wii…it is expensive, and we would not have one…but I won it. I am thankful we won the Wii!! My family is so thankful that I won that contest!
Yes, I am sorry to say that the contest for the Boon products is for the USA, only do to shipping charges. I really wish I could make it for the world, but our family budget is super tight. I will try to think of a contest where I don’t have to ship, but could send via e-mail.
Thanks for the chance at a blog makeover. I think that is a super idea for a contest, but I am not computer savvy enough.
Have a great day! Maybe you will have to break down and buy a Wii someday. *grin
