the grandeur that is the Burj

by Grace on April 16, 2008

We passed by the beach and I had to stop and take a picture:

ww-burj-al-arab.jpg

and wonder, when will I ever get inside that glamorous hotel?

The Burj Al Arab, standing at 320 meters is the tallest hotel building in the world and currently the only 7-stars hotel.

Hi Tanya,

Actually, the expression “7-stars” is a hyperbole according to travel professionals. But if you want to see why here’s a link:

I saw that being built on a National Geographic show and it is beyond amazing. They said some of the suites go for $28,000 a night!!! Ouch. But it does look incredible.

I haven’t been inside but one day I will! You can actually dine in one of the glamorous restos there for around $300 (buffet menu). I think that’s the cheapest way for the common masses to get into the hotel. :-)

Nice beach.
Very interesting building.

I’ve read a lot about Dubai and seen photos, but never visited.

about 2-3 weeks ago I first found out about this hotel from a little video on youtube with two tennis players (agassi and federrer) literally having a ball on the terrace of that hotel. Last week I found out about someone who was vacationing in Dubai and because the hotel where he was headed too (and his family) had no more vacancies, he was directed to the Burj. Besides thinking it’s so snobbish of him to go vacation in a 7 stars hotel (the guy’s a kind of devil’s advocate.. he wins about every case he takes) i truly believe that place is for people who don’t know what to do with their money…
