Wordpress Comment-Email Responder is cool
Posted in Wordpress stuff, blogging on 09/30/2007 12:11 am by GraceI found a great wordpress plugin info at Leanne’s blog that allows you to respond to comments in the comment section and send an email notification to the comment author at the same time. Nothing can be cooler than this!
Since I strongly believe in the writer-reader interaction, this plugin is very helpful. My reply to a certain comment will not only be limited to comment author alone but also to the others as well. Great idea especially when answering to questions in comments.
Download and activate the comment-email-responder plugin now and see the magic!

Hi Karin! This is a test responding to your comment. Let me know if you get this!

waaahhhh! just wordpress…. I’ve been trying to figure out how to respond to comments through email in blogger… but still unsuccessful.

That’s what I don’t like about blogger, Shie. Blog owners respond to the comments on their own blogs but it’s hard for commenters to go back at each blog to check if they’ve been replied to or not. I, for one, don’t track back at the comments I leave on blogger sites.
This plugin is available for wordpress, the downloaded version not the free wordpress.com (you can’t add plugins there).

That’s pure genius! I have been looking for something like that for ages. Well, not really actively looking, you know, just generally wishing somebody would invent it to make my day easier. LOL
I’ll install it right away.

Uhm, as for tracking comments I can recommend CoComment - a Firefox add-on. You can sign up at http://www.cocomment.com and it tracks all the posts where you left comments, so you can see at a glance all the conversations that developed and can answer to later comments as well. Might be a help for the Blogger users.

Our days are easier now!

This is great! Thanks! I normaly reply by e-mail as I want the person who commented to get the answer or response. BUT sometimes I wish that reply was in the comments for others to see too! Love this. Thanks!

Hi Mel, regarding your question in the other post about plugins, they are only available for the downloaded version of wordpress and can’t be installed in the wordpress.com blogs.
If you have your own domain and using wordpress as your blogging platform then you can install and enjoy the magic of the plugin.

I just love the personal interaction, I’m glad you’ve installed this one as well!
For me, I always reply to my comments via e-mail. I know that my reader interaction on my blog isn’t as good as it could be though, because my guests rarely see me “in” the comments. Now I can provide my readers the benefit of knowing that I don’t ignore comments, AND have that personal touch via e-mail.
Do go to the original plugin author site and let him know how you like it, too!

Hi, Thanks for stopping by my blog, I am doing better, thank you. Neat blog you have here. I admire your courage in moving your family to a foreign country, that is a lot harder than just picking up yourself and going somewhere new.
I like the idea of this comment plugin, it would work very well on my At Home Mom blog . . . thanks!

Leanne just installed it for me last night. It sounds like a great idea! Since she was already doing that for me, I also gave in and upgraded to the newest version of WP. The only difference that I notice so far is that when you preview your post draft, it’s in another window as opposed to right below it on the same screen.

I also use this plugin on one of my other sites. It works and it’s really interesting. I recommend it.

Kailani - Ok, that means it is ok that I don’t upgrade to 2.3 yet since there are minimal differences from the version I am using now? Do tell me if there are some great magic you discover with the new version though.
Yay! for this plugin. I can see that you are using this on your site now.

There’s a preview frame plugin, since the preview frames have been removed. I wrote about that one somewhere in my blog - it’s linked on my “Plugins I use” page. I can’t live without the preview frame.
