Intriguing.

Where could this be? It’s still in Dubai, of course. A perfect place that’s not hot and yet not too cold? Ok, maybe a little bit chilly (moms, be ready with a long-sleeved shirt) but it looks cozy inside.

There was no one else but us and this is what happens when there’s no one else looking.

No idea? A hint.

No, that’s not a glass cage for little girls, although that might come handy at times. The word cage is actually a very good hint. Now that you’ve probably run out of ideas – here’s the answer.

This is an airconditioned bus waiting shelter - a haven to people taking the bus during summer where outside temperature in Dubai reaches 48C-50C. The design of these shelters is modeled on the shape of the crescent, not after the famous Burj Al Arab as I have thought. Presently there are hundreds of these installed all over the city.
While still, so many residents complain of the the insufficient number of these shelters, the lack of provision for women only shelters, etc. I still think the government has done us a favor by keeping us from being roasted alive during the peak of summer while waiting for the bus.
Well, if it keeps my child happy and entertained while going out on a hot day waiting for the bus, then I’m all for it!

Wow, that’s the most awesome bus shelter I’ve EVER seen! Very nice. That would get ruined here. People don’t care about keeping anything nice.
This is such a great idea, Grace! Pristine looks very happy indeed!

Your daughter is a cutie pie, and I’m glad she has somewhere cool to wait. There’s nothing worse then being outside all hot, while waiting and waiting. I’m also glad they have that for you, cause I am sure it makes things easier on Mama when the kids aren’t upset about being hot.

sweet, that is a great idea, i wish that we had those where i live, but it won’t happen, you’d have too many bums sleeping in them.
That is the coolest (no pun intended) bus shelter EVER. Your daughter looks as though she is having a blast!

Ha! Anybody complaining about a lack of those shelters should come here for a week or two in the middle of our summer when it’s very hot and it rains almost every afternoon. You are lucky if you find any kind of shelter at all at our bus stops. LOL. Just a random sign (if that) with a bus route number on it – that’s IT!
That is the cleanest bus stop I’ve ever seen!
Cool!

Wow that is so cool!
@Sheila: People are afraid to ruin things here – strict rules so expats are careful and I am grateful. People come here to work and one mistake could land you in jail or get you deported!
@Joyce: It was a great idea by the government. Many residents are not satisfied but I say, better than nothing!
@Lawanda: Yes it is COOL.
@Katie: Thanks Katie! The bus shelters are indeed a good thing for us desert dwellers. Thanks for visiting!
@Billiard Lighting: Thankfully there are no bums in Dubai. If one doesn’t have a job, one can’t stay here (immigration won’t issue a visa)
@Jennifer: great pun! My daughter loved being inside the cool shelter because it was so hot outside!
@Jax: Too bad there’s no shelter on the buses there Jax! No wonder so many South Africans loove Dubai very much!
@Channel Marketing: Now that you’ve mentioned it, yes, it is clean inside!
@willowsprite: Yes, it is – being the first and only(?) airconditioned bus shelter in the world.
@Callista:It is cool, literally and figuratively!
