Happier bus story

by Grace on September 23, 2007

One whine less: RTA opens two bus routes to serve key spots in Dubai, 10 minutes interval between trips!

To match the urban expansion and demographic growth in the UAE, the Road and Traffic Authority opens new bus services to ensure smooth flow of traffic, ease traffic congestions and accordingly minimize the percentage of traffic accidents.

The buses which will be operated in Route C2, will move from Zaabeel Park across World Trade Center at Sheikh Zayed Road, then pass through Naturalization & Residency Departmentt, Burjuman Center, Bur Dubai, Dubai Creek, Salahuddin Rd, the General HQ of Dubai Police, and from there up to Dubai International Airport (Terminal 2) and vice versa. During the first stage of launching this service, trips will be operated at 10 minutes intervals. Daily trips will start at 5 am and continue till 12 midnight.

As to the second line Express (X25), buses will kick off from Dubai Marina residential community, which is witnessing fast growth, and pass through Dubai Internet City, Knowledge Village, Jumeira Rd, Al Ghubaiba Bus Station, Naif Rd, Salah Uddin Rd, Damascus Rd till reaching the new HQ of Public Transport Agency (Ex Dubai Transport Office). To cut short trip time, buses will only stop at key areas. The “X” in the bus number means express.

Hurrah for me! One of the new buses (X25) passes very near my house and stops near my office building. The buses are new, sufficiently temperature controlled and very clean not to mention so un-Dubai like efficient and comes on time! Since the buses come on time, it is not packed and smelly.

At least the government finally listened to the people’s woes!

Hi loulla, thanks for visiting. Buses X25 and C2 are new so it seems that their route maps and timetables (as if it is being followed!) is not in any website I know. Other buses and their route maps can be found here: http://vgn.dm.gov.ae/DMEGOV/dm-trans-timetables#table

Sorry I am not of much help. I can tell you though that X25 starts from Al Ghusais, passing through Al Nahda road, then Salahuddin Road, Naif, Shindagha Tunnel then onto Jumeirah Beach Road all the way to Dubai Media City and Dubai Marina.

How is the new bus route (x25) working for you? I am on the other tail end of the route and it seems to come pretty frequently – but truth be told – I have not yet taken it -just driven behind it a lot!
