Man spends bucks to beat traffic

A local businessman has chosen to spend his nights at a hotel and pay AED5,000 (US$1,400) than braving the Dubai traffic to reach his house.

The Emirati businessman was quoted saying, “During the past seven days, I’ve spent more than AED5,000 after spending four nights in two different hotels which are near my office to avoid the unbearable traffic.”

The daily commute that normally takes only 15 minutes has stretched to more than an hour with all the road construction going on. The businessman and I share the same route to and from work everyday. Sadly we don’t share the same wallet size.

  2. Just more than an hour delay?
And to think that it takes almost 2 hours from my apartment to the office… sigh…

2 hours in a moving train and same hour stucked in a traffic that seemed to have frozen is different. I’d rather be in a moving vehicle than strain my leg holding the car brake.

  4. I regularly have an hour commute each way…unless their is traffic. Fortunately, I’ve been able to work at home all summer.

  5. I hope it’s just the traffic he’s escaping…and not issues at home.
