So that explained the gloomy weather, dark clouds and sun not showing up this morning. Funny I hoped it would bring on rain.
In a fire in Jebel Ali chemical depot, “There were explosions, sending debris up to 300 meters in the air,” according to a report in GulfNews. However, there were no casualties.
The Jebel Ali port is situated in Dubai and has the UAE’s second biggest oil refinery. Fortunately, there has been no effect on the refinery operations, said a spokesman for Emirates National Oil Company, which runs the 120,000 barrels per day facility.
I first saw the small extract of information in Yahoo UK. Isn’t it funny that people halfway across the world know what is happening in our backyard before we do?
But gee, I wonder what kind of chemicals are burnt in the fire. It has been really windy today – - we could all be breathing some nasty stuff.

Wow, that could have been a disaster if the refinery caught fire. Hope no one was injured!
