Two years has passed since we landed in Dubai International Airport, carrying the maximum baggage allowance for two adults and one child. I tell you, traveling with a child, it was not much – we didn’t even have pillow cases or a hair dryer, even a bottle of shampoo! Just clothes and lots of diapers. We had three one way tickets, a desktop PC we can’t leave behind (crazy I know) that took most of that baggage allowance and clothes and the determination that we can make it.
We fought a lot of battles right from day one. Our apartment building was not completed yet, my crazy work schedule, bureaucracies, my husband’s terrible language barrier, Pristine’s separation anxiety, the BUS. I could go on and on but, well, we are still here, after two years!
Pristine loves the beach so much and we are lucky to be living near it . She’s still small in the photo at 3 years old, taken 2 years ago at Jumeirah Beach.
Life in Dubai is not all roses, as everywhere is, but we like it. We are happier here and that’s what’s important.

Yah here Pristine is just 3years and she is having small hair in which she is looking so cute and chubby.
Wow, you certainly didn’t arrive with a whole lot! Is that building in the background the one where the restaurant juts out over the water? If so, I watched a documentary not long ago on the building of that building.
Sheilas last blog post..Honest, I Swear!
Hi Sheila,
The building on the background is Burj Al Arab Hotel, the world’s only 7-stars hotel. I think there’s been a lot of documentaries about this posh Dubai Hotel aired all over the world.
It’s an impressive building.
