So we decided to buy a car, at last. We’ve suffered for long and now it’s payback time.
As limited as our budget is, M couldn’t settle for a non-Japanese car which of course, I can totally relate. In the car park, there were several Hyundai Tucson lined up, an SUV comparable in looks to a CRV but of Korean make and very cheap. But we’d rather have a smaller Toyota Yaris (model name Vitz in Japan) or the car with magic seats Honda Jazz (called Fit in Japan) than a Hyundai Tucson. Ok, this is just us, no offense to Korean car products.
We love Japanese technology; the idea of making things as compact as possible without sacrificing performance or appearance and more importantly, comfort is just great. These two cars are small, which makes parking and u-turns a doodle but with very good interior space. It also is easy on our budget which gives these cars more ‘ooomph’.
The CRV looks really nice but no room for luxury right now! In fact, anything with four wheels, a roof and a good a/c that can take us anywhere we like is just fab. We are so happy, can’t wait for our test drive! (I can finally drive again after almost a year of inactivity.)

Congrat! Hope you get great use out of it.
ideru – There is no Nissan Cube here, if that was what you meant? We would have wanted a Honda MRV, 7 seaters and slide doors (very convenient if you have kids) but it was too costly. Next time…
Hi Maribeth – the last time we had a car, that was almost 4 months ago, petrol price was about 30-40% cheaper than in the US. I don’t know if it increased right now…I will know soon once we fill up our new car.
Congratulation on the addition!!! No more waiting for buses that don’t pitch and sweating your life while out on lunch!!! Post some pictures
DH is like that, too. He’ll only buy Toyotas. We have a 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra. He’s very brand loyal.
Great news! Suroy na…
Congrats Grace! I envy you… I’ve never really experienced driving, not counting in driving school of course. My dad never really trusted me with my driving skills. hehehehe
