conquering Dubai, sorta!

This is what we did last Friday:

We drove to Shiekh Zayed Road and crammed our necks looking at the tall buildings. Took pictures of some of Dubai’s landmarks.

We passed by the construction of what would be the tallest building in the world, when completed a few years(?) from now, the Burj Dubai.

Then off we drove all the way to an area called New Dubai, where communities with lots of greens sprawling in the once empty desert. Can you imagine the effort put to keep these greens, green?!

Springs community residential area. Ain’t it lovely!

New Dubai is a collection of distinctive, exclusive (expensive!!) estates of communities called The Springs, Meadows, Lakes, Views, Greens and Emirates Hills (among others) and the ultimate way to experience what they call “Emirates Living”. Sadly, only the upper 5% of the expats with handsome salary and/or attractive expat package can afford to live here. More sadly, we don’t belong to that upper percentage!!

Then we have to pass by Jumeirah too so you guessed it, we stopped at the beach! Only this time we did not bring our swim suits so we settled for a photo op instead.

Presenting…the world’s tallest hotel…and also the one and only 7-stars hotel in the world!

The Burj Al Arab is an iconic structure, designed to symbolize Dubai’s urban transformation and to mimic the shape of the sail of an Arabian boat dhow. Visit the wikipedia and be wowed of this structure’s complex engineering feats.

Click, click, click…pose, pose, pose!

And some stolen shots from the father-daughter tandem:
