no cold shower until November?
Posted in Family, desert life on 08/26/2007 10:59 am by GraceRight now, there is no moment of freshness even after a shower. After each bath, I get squeaky clean but strangely, I begin to wonder if the wetness around face and neck is water from the shower or sweat from my newly cleaned pores.
At this time of the year, it is considered normal for the water from the cold tap to come out as hot - that is the big irony no one has told me before and took me forever to figure out. Water is usually stored in water tanks on top of buildings and the good summer sun heats it up in no time.
Morning shower rituals have become less desirable, the hot water even dries my hair. I have switched to one conditioner brand to another and finally I found out it’s not Pantene’s fault at all.
This weekend, we’ll buy a huge bucket and store water at night so we can take a more refreshing shower the following morning. It’s just torture to be sweating seconds after each shower and to catch up with the bus everyday and sweat some more.
Finally, to female tourists coming to Dubai during summer, watch out for your bits, too. Nothing like red hot water when you’re least expecting it.

Yesterday, we were standing in 102 degree weather and got drenched in our sweat, so I can only imagine what you go through during the summer!

Talk about a shock! I love hot showers but I have to make the water gradually, not from the very beginning! Ouch!

Wow, I have never disliked a nice, hot shower before. I guess that’s probably because I have never lived anywhere blisteringly hot. Thanks for doing the things I don’t want to.
