The expat family life: mom is working in a local company and telling dad she misses the old home while looking at familiar characters on her spec sheets; dad putting up a brave front by saying he is not missing his home country; little girl talking in English, the language she beautifully adapted and shouts “No!” when asked if she missed Japan.
A friend back home suggested a website where Japanese programs can be viewed through bit-streaming. The expat couple excitedly checks it out, sits in front of their PC (they have no TV) and with a few clicks, they are officially hooked. English babbling little girl sat with mom and dad and face is glowing at the sound of Japanese language on the speaker. That great sunny weekend, they did not go anywhere and slept very late.
Man, they never knew they’d miss Jap TV this much!
P.S. – How pathetic can it be to get weak at the sight of trains in Tokyo and looking at the people hustling and bustling amidst familiar city lights?
Lately, we have zero social life but too much Jap drama is not so bad, after all, it’s too hot to go outside on the weekend.

I remember when I first went to Germany. I was so homesick for all that was familiar back in New Hampshire. Not speaking the language also found me feeling badly. But in time it got better and then I could have stayed and stayed.
haha… I do the same thing! Before I came to Japan, I rarely watch Tagalog Movies… but now, I watch even the corniest ones. Seeing jeepneys and the people gathered in a sari sari store is really comforting. ^0^
This is one area where it’s easier to be an American expat – American tv, food, movies, music, etc. are all everywhere, to the point where you just want to run and hide from the relentlessness of it all.
crunchyroll is a good site but be careful of spywares ( mostly adclick).. be sure to scan for spywares after..
veoh.com is also a good source of video
