To the movies
Posted in Family, Pristine on 06/16/2007 06:55 am by GraceThe not-so-little-one is going to the movies. For the first time!! Sadly, she will not be going with us. No, she will not be going alone too, of course. I had to say that before you have me arrested for child abandonment.
Pristine’s KG1 class along with three teachers are going to Deira City Center to watch Shrek 3 next Tuesday. Hubby and I stared at the letter of consent that we have to sign, lovely daughter waiting impatiently in front of us, as if she understood what the letter meant.

Last year, Shrek was shown in TV (during those times that we actually had a TV in the house). Our daughter freaked out. Shrek did not have any appeal at all and Pristine kept referring him as the “green monster”! But she was only 2 at that time.
Neewayz, moms out there…do you think Shrek 3 is suitable for children under 5?
…and do you really think 3.5 year olds can last a full two hours in their movie seats without making toilet trips in the middle, sleeping, fighting with each other, etc, etc…oh, that should really be a challenge for the accompanying teachers!

My boys LOVED Shrek. Jason watched the first Shrek when he was about 3. Loved it. He could also sit still and watch the movie the entire time. However kids are all so different. Can’t tell you that she will be able to!

Oh and I always find it SO difficult to let my kids go on outings. I mostly try to take them myself. Especially here where it seems as though I’m the only mom who straps in my child

I just took my son to see Shrek 3 in the theater (only because my husband made me, I prefer to wait for the dvd). He loved it… he did get up to go potty once, but, we’d made him go right before we went in, so it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.
We also chose a somewhat late start (7pm) instead of one of the earlier showings, to hopefully avoid a lot of noisy toddlers… hehe. And we did, there were mostly older kids and adults there. So, we got out past his bedtime, but, he fell asleep in the car on the way home. (I still don’t see how he can sleep sitting up, but, hey, more power to him).
Oh, he just turned four last month.
