Today, I’ll talk about the dressing room. Promise this is still fitness related!
I seldom go shopping and if I do, I avoid the dressing room at all costs. I pick up a shirt/blouse with my size and immediately go straight to the counter. I know my size and I don’t want to waste my time wallowing in grief at the sight of myself in the dressing room mirror. But a couple of weeks back, there was a sale and I went. I even entered the dressing room only half as scared as before.
Since doing Turbulence Training last April, holy crap Batman, I am down 2 dress sizes and for the first time in years, I’m not crying inside the dressing room!
These photos were taken a few weeks back. I admit I’m still a biggie (and my sister would probably disown me after saying, ”I can’t believe you posted these photos!” and rolling her eyes in a teenager kind of way)but if my eyes are not deceiving me, I have a bit of waist definition now – someting that’s been so elusive for six years (since I gave birth).
I went to the shopping center with my gym buddy because she was asking for “fashion advice” since she’s not used to buying western kind of clothing. As if I am fashionable myself but yeah, I picked up clothes for her and accompanied her to the dressing room. She was on the verge of crying when she came out. Nothing fits her properly and the look of her face says it all. I looked at her back and said, “Honey, that is why I am pumping up on squats, lunges and interval training and saying no to the sweet tea and juices offered for free at the office 3x a day!”
She used to tease me about the things I do at the gym but now she knows why and I feel she’s not going to tell me that I am training too hard again and that I’m breaking the heart of the office tea boy.

Anyway, here’s what I did during Week 2 of the August Finess Challenge:
- Turbulence Training 2K4 Program + HIIT afterwards, 3 x/wk
- No wheat (except last Friday when I had whole wheat pasta) – read about Good carbs vs Bad carbs, if you’re inclined to know more
- No soda, sugar-added juices
- Core strengthening exercise 3 x/wk
- Ate lots of fruits and vegetables instead of bread and rice
Week 2 stats: -1 lb

Well you look great! The first thing I thought was “oh my. She’s got an hourglass figure!”
Beings that you look so nice, I can only imagine how good you feel, you’ve hung in there and worked hard for that! I’m impressed.
Hourglass figure..hmmm…maybe if the waist part is narrower.
Before starting on the diet and exercise program, I had a mug figure..bust-waist-hip measurement is the same! LOL
Thanks for the kind words!
I can definitely see a waistline happening. You look great!
Thanks Kailani…here I am sweating my butt off, dieting, not pregnant yet you’re still thinner than me!
2 dress sizes down! Holy cow, Grace, you are doing really great! I am sure that if you keep going this route, you will be in great shape in no time. Keep it up, girl!
Thanks Anna. I had to shop for new trousers coz the ones I used are falling off my waist and I do not like to wear belts..oh well, great excuse for shopping really.
The scales aren’t saying much, only the drop in dress sizes…
Honey, you look great! You should cut down on the fruit and eat whole rice and rye bread. Whole rice is one of the healthiest foods out there.
Thank you very much although I am still far from my goal. I do eat rye bread after eliminating all white bread. Have to eliminate white rice and replace it with whole rice next.
Looking good!!
I am impressed, almost enough to start training myself but not quite…lol
Thanks, Connie! I am still so far from my goal but getting there..just have to decide when.
I think your doing a wonderful job and you look amazing in those photos!! Honestly, being thin is SO overrated. Curves are the way to go =]
Thanks, Kayla. I used to be so thin..like 100 lbs at 160 cm (height)..but that was years before I got married and gave birth. I put it this way..my bones have grown! LOL
Well done Grace, you are doing a good job. Keep on going. I can definitely see the difference.
Thanks! You keep me motivated!
Girl, you have curves.? You are looking hot.? Keep it up :0)
Cheers
Jewelz
I think you look fabulous!! You definitely need to keep some of those curves… being skinny is WAY too overrated!!
