a taste of Mid-East sweets

I have a new addiction besides the internet. Goodness, I don’t even know what they’re called. All I know is that they have lots of pistachio nuts in it and they come from somewhere in the Middle East. Iran? Syria? Lebanon? Turkey? I don’t know, any idea? I should go back again and ask, never mind that the store keeper speaks another language, definitely not English!

Green in food is not usually fancy to look at but it’s better to save comments until you tried it. It’s delicious and highly addicting.

I LOVE those candies. LOVE them!! I am wondering if they might be a variety of Turkish delight…. Which I also love…. I just found out that there’s milk chocolate covered turkish delight… yum… I have no idea where I’ve had them before, I only know that I can eat about 1 million of them. You have great taste Grace!

The Indians have a sweet that looks kind of like that - I’m pretty sure it has pistachios, but I don’t know what it’s called.

If it’s got pistachios it can’t be bad–love those guys! I was always disappointed with Turkish Delight, to me it wasn’t delightful at all but just sweet and sticky–that stuff actually looks tasty!

My sister brought a box of those pistachios sweets home from a business trip to Syria last year. There was huge variety of them, the best was the Damascus equivalent of the Greek Baklava with the pistachios in the middle!!
