Tagged: 8 Facts about my mother
By Grace on Sep 21, 2007 in Friday fillers, memes
The New Parent has tagged me to answer this meme a few days back. Sorry Frank, it took me so long to post this. The domain transfer got to me at that time.
1. My mother grew up in a small village where every one knows each other. In a place where sons and daughters are referred as something like, Ludivina (my mom), the daughter of Salvador (my grandfather), which I find quite funny.
2. She has 3 other sisters. Their names all start with letter L. I have yet to ask why. She has three brothers but their names don’t start with a particular letter.
3. My mom grew up in a small village where fishing is the main means of living. It is amazing how she can tell one fish from the other, no matter how similar the scales are!
4. Their house is very near to the sea. Exposed to the sea at a very young age, my mother is an excellent swimmer and knows the mood of the sea just by hearing the waves and smelling the wind! Believe me! (She should be renamed Ariel)
5. Of the 4 sisters, my mother was the youngest to get married at 25.
6. She was also the weakest, having asthma all throughout her puberty. She skipped some years in school because her condition often prevented her from following a normal classroom routine.
7. But despite that, she was the one to have the most number of kids! Including one miscarriage, she got pregnant 7 times and gave birth 6 times!
8. She has the greenest of green thumbs in our neighborhood. Our place would smell of gardenias and roses and neighbors come to ask for her orchids. She tends them like her own children, even talking to the flowers and swears they’re talking back to her by bearing more buds!
Ok, no sweat. Then I am supposed to tag 8 people now. For a change, I am tagging people I haven’t tagged before:
- The Dackel Princess
- Kissed a Lot a Toads
- Around the Island
- Empress Bee
- Kimo & Sabi
- Scribbit
- Impworks
- Mom not mum
…and if you haven’t done this meme, consider yourself tagged. Answering this was a fun way to remember small interesting details, often forgotten about the person who gave me life.

She gave birth to 6 children? She’s my hero!

Your mother is a charming woman. I love listening to her soft voice everytime she talks. I always think about that voice when I remember your Mader.
