Even Will Smith is capable of doing a crap movie

I don’t need to elaborate, do I? But I am talking about the movie I am Legend, not his latest Hancock which I think also received very bad reviews from critics.

I never hated Will Smith, in fact, I loved the guy in Men in Black and Enemy of the State. Amazing how publicity can really trick movie goers/DVD renters! The movie I am Legend is to date, the most boring movie I have ever seen! I rarely have time to see a movie and now this!?

I wish I spent my time sleeping rather than staying awake late at night going through the boring and dragging details of the movie and explaining to our underaged daughter that all the bang-bang in the movie is not good, there’s no living dead in real life, it’s just a movie, all those parental guidance blahs.

The other DVD we saw last weekend was Enchanted. It was played in our house for four times at the span of 6 hours. Straight. One can’t get enough of Patrick Dempsey Disney, right?

We adore the movie. By the word “we”, I meant the girl population in our home. Me, Pristine and my mother. The lone man (M) went in hiding and shut the door. :-)

enchanted

I highly recommend the movie. A very welcoming respite from the I am Legend freak show. It’s like eating heavenly ice cream after a very bad main dish that caused gastric pain. We love the songs, the story, everything. Highly recommended if you have a little princess in  your house or if you are a Patrick Dempsey fan. I was not a fan of Patrick Dempsey until this movie - don’t mention Grey’s Anatomy because we have no TV and I haven’t seen any episode of that show.

It’s a great enchanting family film you should watch.

  1. i knew from the start the ‘I am Legend’ is a zombie movie, but i also thought it’s boring especially for a zombie movie.

i love ‘Enchanted’! can’t get enough of … ‘Prince Edward’, the naive, clueless, courageous singing prince … i think he’s so cute!

He’s cute alright but a little annoying, especially on the clueless part. The squirrel had to do his best!

  2. Hey, nothing against Will Smith, please! ;)
I love the guy. I also loved I am Legend. Then again, I love all movies (and books) about the end of humankind, so maybe I was biased. But it’s certainly not suited for kids, that’s right. Would have been way to scary for me at that age.
But I also thought Hancock was way better than most comic adaptions out there (yeah, I know it’s not a comic adaption itself). Not exactly a masterpiece, but certainly entertaining enough for 2 hours.

But you would have to bind and gag me to make me watch this sugary fairytale princess stuff. *shudder* And if the movie itself wasn’t awful enough, on top of that it has got Patrick Dempsey, the unbearable bore with the facial paralysis. *yuck* Never got the appeal of that guy, really. But I do on the other hand understand that this is a movie your daughter would love. I might have done myself back in the dark ages when I was that young and sweet and … young.
Unfortunately I’m way too old and cynical to be able to enjoy stuff like that anymore. Give me zombies any day, but save me from princesses. (unless they’re zombie princesses, of course, in which case I might make an exception…) LOL

But isn’t it great that we have such different taste? I guess we would never get in a fight over some guy (even if you weren’t married an’ all).

  3. Thanks for the warning!

As for Enchanted - yeah, the only male in this house will have to find something else to do. :)

  8. Is that so? But a friend of mine told me that I am legend is a nice movie. Although another friend of mine also told me that hancock is not that good. Hmmmm… Anyway, I’m going to watch it this weekend. It took me kinda intriguing.

  9. I completely agree on “I am Legend”…I was so terribly disappointed by that movie. Haven’t seen Hancock yet. Of my friends who have, 1/2 loved it, 1/2 hated it.
