A visit to Dubailand

by Grace on November 19, 2007

In a few years, a huge entertainment complex will spring out of the desert and become Middle East’s answer to Disneyland. Dubailand is one of the biggest construction projects in the world, with two billion square feet of land consisting of 45 separate projects from a space exploration exhibition to full-size dinosaur enclosure.

Dubailand includes the biggest shopping mall in the world, The Mall of Arabia, several new five-star hotels, an indoor ski slope, a complex of sports stadiums and an ecological dome to grow vegetation in the heart of the desert.

There will also be an equestrian centre, aviation display, modern art gallery, water amusement park, multi-cultural garden complex, the largest zoo in the Middle East and much more.

Right now, the area is mostly barren with some construction workers appearing here and there. Here are some photos of taken during our random pit- stop in Dubai land:

A tiger, I bet bored and hungry.

*All animals except the tiger are fake. The little girl and the everything green in the photos are real.*

That’s a great place… and it’s not crowded! A very good place to hang out.
I’m just wondering…since the place is deserted.. are all the stalls (especially food stalls) still open?

Wow, that’s going to be some theme park when it’s done! Dubai likes to go all out on their building projects. You’ll have to post more pictures later when it’s all done. Ski in Dubai, what’s next? :-)
