What am I like?

I saw this personality quiz over at Mom’s Musings and it’s available at BBC - Science and Nature Human Body and Mind site.

Your answers suggest you are a Nurturer

The four aspects that make up this personality type are:

Planner, Facts, Hearts and Introvert

Summary of Nurturers

  • Care for the important people in their lives
  • Strive for harmony and avoid confrontation
  • Think of themselves as gentle, conscientious, and mature
  • May have trouble making decisions that could hurt others

More about Nurturers

Nurturers are quiet people who believe in order and diligently look after the people they care about. They focus on the needs of others and establish routines to help them meet their commitments.

Nurturers are the most likely group to say they prefer a job where the same thing happens every day, according to a UK survey.

Nurturers remember details that are important to them, such as their friends’ birthdays and anniversaries. People with this personality type value others’ feelings and may challenge behaviour they think is insensitive.

In situations where they can’t use their talents or are unappreciated, Nurturers may feel bitter and seek support by complaining to their colleagues. Under extreme stress, Nurturers may become preoccupied with the worst possible outcome and believe that they are heading for disaster.

Because they are so caring and loyal, Nurturers run the risk of being taken advantage of.

Nurturer Careers

Nurturers are often drawn to jobs that allow them to help others.

I’m countin’ the hours

… until my vacation, that is!

Can you see my wide, wide smile? I’ve been looking forward to this vacation since the day my 6 month probation period ended and I signed my ‘probable’ days of annual leave.

Expatriates in Dubai get 30 days of paid vacation every one year of service with economy air tickets and since I have been working for more than 18 months, I get 45 days! Oh la la!

So,

All my bags are packed, I’m ready to go…I’m standin’ here outside your door…oh before I finish the entire song, here are 13 things I look forward to in my vacation to Japan and the Philippines.

1. A trip to the salon after almost 2 years! Twenty one unbelievable months to be exact. Imagine uber long lack luster hair and split ends (the first time since high school!).

2. Breathing fresh, clean air

3. Japanese food

4. Train rides in Tokyo

5. Going to my in-laws in rural Japan

6. Onsen (Japanese hot springs bath)

onsen3.jpg

7. Lots of cocktail drinks

8. Karaoke! I’ll definitely bring Pristine to the Karaoke house for the first time. I’m sure she’ll love it!

9. Going back to Pristine’s daycare and see how her friends are doing. I am so thrilled to see how she’ll communicate with them.

10. Meeting my pregnant/just given birth friends and of course the un-preggy ones too.

11. Get together with all my many siblings. I can imagine, long hours of talking, laughing and poking at each other’s sides for fun.

12. My brother’s wedding (in the Philippines) to his long-time girlfriend. They’ve been together for 12 years!

13. Tokyo Disneyland.

… leaving…on a jet plane…

last day in the office today

Today’s my last day in the office before I my leave starts. We’ll be leaving in a few days and I am so happy to have one extra day tomorrow because of a national holiday. You think I’m going to spend that extra day packing? No! Packing has been done ages ago. The female population in my house (me, my mom and the little girl) will go out to see Mamma Mia the movie!

I have attempted to watch the musical in Broadway when we went to London 2 years ago but was refused entrance since Pristine was barely three years old that time. Now, it’s finally ok to let this Abba fanatic toddler see this wonderful movie. I am sure she’ll love it.

It’s been an exhausting 21 months - the unbelievably total number of time I haven’t had a proper break! I’m really looking forward to this vacation. I need this. But you know those last hours when you’re crunchin’ on a double work pile, trying to get everything done but your brain is already splashing in the surf?

still here, can barely blog

For the few people subcribing my feed, no, there is nothing wrong with my feed or your feed reader. I was just not updating my blog due to some chaotic errands that had me running here and there. If I had known, I would have worn my running shoes instead of my damn heels.

Bandaid will double its profits courtesy of my feet today.

What your name means in numbers

Regardless of the accuracy of the subject, name meanings are fun and intriguing. See your destiny number and what it means for you.

How Numerology Works When working with a name, numbers have corresponding letters. The numbers are added up and broken down into single digits in order to give you your final Destiny Number. The Number to Letter Assignments:

1= A, J, S

2= B, K, T

3= C, L, U

4= D, M, V

5= E, N, W

6= F, O, X

7= G, P, Y

8= H, Q, Z

9= I, R

How to Find Your Destiny Number:

  1. Write down your full name (first, middle, and last). Use the name you were given at birth—not your married name.
  2. Using the table above, write down the number matched to each letter in each name (example: GRACE = 7, 9, 1, 3, 5).
  3. Add the numbers together for each name (for Grace: 7 + 9 + 1 + 3 + 5= 25).
  4. You will most likely get a double digit for each name; break down each double digit number you get by adding the first and second digit to get one number (i.e. from the 25 above, add together 2+5 to get 7, which is the number for my first name).
  5. Add up the final numbers you get from each name (i.e. my middle name number is 14 and my last name number is 30, so 7+5+3 = 15).
  6. Once again, break down any double-digit numbers into one digit to get your final Destiny Number (i.e. from the 15 above, add together 1+5 to get 6, which is my final Destiny Number)

In numerology, the basic vibrations are numbers 1 through 9, but the numbers 11 and 22 are master numbers and should not be reduced to a single digit since these are master vibrations.

1 is determined, autonomous, and self-reliant

2 is loyal, tactful, and analytical

3 is passionate, positive, and fun-loving

4 is sensible, traditional, and serious

5  is bold, temperamental, and sensual

6 is responsible, cautious, and domestic

7 is spiritual, unconventional, and somewhat reclusive

8 is money-oriented, assured, and authoritative

9 is versatile, compassionate, and worldly

11 is enlightened, deep, and high-strung

22 is ambitious, a global planner, and motivated

Further meaning of destiny number can be found here. Mine says,

Destiny Number 6 The key to a Destiny number of 6 is to live your life as a humanitarian. Helping those who are weak, down on their luck or unhappy will help you to find happiness in your own life. You also should strive to beautify the world around you with artistic endeavors. While you should not completely sacrifice yourself to the service of others, helping those in need will open the door to beauty, love and harmony in your own life. This more or less sums up to what I am. I love helping others and I am happy to be able to extend help and assistance to anyone in need - if what is required is within my reach, of course. But no, please don’t email me saying you need a new car… So what’s your number? Does the meaning hold true for your personality?

Things I do before travelling

I’m busy preparing for our vacation so I’ll make this quick:

1. Make an itinerary, usually done at least two months before.

2. Decide which clothes to bring or not

3. Iron clothes to bring

4. Label things (suitcases)

5. Compress clothes that are bulky using those vacuum sealed plastics that reduce the size and bulkiness of any fabric to less than 50%

6. Pack clothes and necessities for accompanying toddler (books, extra shirts, medicine, snacks, water bottle, wipes, etc)

7. Weigh the suitcase

8. Plan meal ahead to empty the fridge before going

9. Settle all outstanding bills

10. General house cleaning

11. Buy gifts/souvenirs

12. Inform destination of our expected date and time of arrival

13. Have plenty of rest! Dubai-Japan flight takes 15 hours including a short stopover at Hong Kong and from Narita Airport, it’s 3 hours by train to Tokyo!

What must be the celebration?

ww-house-lightup.jpg

I don’t know what goes on inside these houses but I see lighted up houses in my neighborhood from time to time. Since we don’t have any Arab/local friends, I don’t have any idea.

What do you think?
