October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

My uncle’s wife died of breast cancer more than 10 years ago but her demise is still fresh in my memories. I have seen her battle with it. She showed and explained to me how she lost her right breast and had to put towels in her bra to look normal. She was a brave lady and still worked hard until the end of her days. In less than a year, she lost her other breast. It was a heartbreaking scene but she was still standing tall after the operation. She lost all her hair and her weight plummeted at a very fast pace. When she died, she was only weighing half of her original weight and she was originally so petite.

If only breast cancer awareness is taught that time, she could have been here and not left a 6 year old and a toddler when she bid us goodbye that one afternoon in summer. Early detection of breast cancer can draw the line between life and death. Let us educate ourselves and each other about breast cancer and continue to do so until no more mothers, aunts, sisters, cousins, grandmothers or friends are lost due to this vicious disease.

I have one friend who is going through radiation because of breast cancer and another who just told me TODAY that she had to go for a second mammogram because of an abnormality. Pretty scary
I am only 38 and just made my FIRST appointment for a mammogram! I am at the age where we should start getting them

Grace, having breast cancer has always been something I’ve been scared of.

But anyway, I love your new theme.
