Review: The ICU Software

by Grace on October 14, 2007

My daughter will be turning 4 years old in a couple of months. She can write her own name, spell it and shout it loud. More than that she can also type it in Google – of course she has no idea what those bunch of letters in the search result are because she can’t read, for now.

At a tender age she is more adept with the computer than her grandmother, which is a good thing and at the same time, scary. We don’t have a TV in our home. We ditched it 2 years ago to give way for ample quality parenting time we always wanted to give her. But we do, as normal people, love entertainment so we watch movies on DVD, she sure knows how to insert the DVD into the computer and play/rewind/forward it.

I also let her watch music videos that are kid friendly in youtube and other sources of kid online entertainment. As much as possible, I am by her side while she watches the short videos. One time I had to leave her when my phone rang. When I came back, she was watching something of adult content! I was shocked and immediately turned the PC off.

She is just 4 but she can click through things online. She can’t read and judge for herself yet, in short, she is defenseless against damaging information that abound in cyberspace.

While the internet is an informative and lively playground, it is also a potentially dangerous place and every parent should know what their children are up to.

I have found a software that monitors children online to help keep them safe – the ICU Software that is designed by parents, for parents so it is easy to install and use. ICU stands for Insight into your Children’s Unaccompanied activity, how appropriate!

As a parent, we want to give our children the freedom to explore the world (online or real) and at the same time protect them from unnecessary harm online that includes viewing sites of adult content, playing illegal games, illegal downloading, etc. As my daughter grows up and become smarter by the minute, this software is very handy because I am not sure if she want me to be by her side at all times especially when she is older.

There’s a free trial of the ICU software so you will know if it suits your needs and check the FAQ to answer your doubts. Check out and try ICU because there is no price for peace of mind.

In these days, all kids need to learn how to use a computer. It’s great that she’s so efficient!
