It sucks that she’s never coming back

by Grace on May 31, 2009

Last weekend, I learned that a friend of mine passed away. She was just 30. I don’t know what to say. Immediately I looked at her blog and her online profile and there she was, in photos, smiling and looking back at me, so alive. How can she be gone already? It feels strange to know that a person whom you have previously talked to, laughed with, shared stories with or tickled (we used to tease each other a lot at the school hall, whenever me meet) is gone forever.

Gone. No more coming back, no more pats in the shoulder, no more warm handshakes. The feeling is so empty, cold and lonely.

The last time I saw her was more than 5 years ago but I couldn’t forget her – carefree, very friendly, full of life and so accommodating. She will be so missed.

She was hospitalized for a pancreatic ailment early this year and through updates from our mutual friends, I learned that she’s responding to medication, still cracking jokes and smiling. We didn’t know that she was just putting up a brave fight. I feel that she had known her fate from the beginning. Next update I received was that she developed leukemia. I could only pray.

Now, she has joined the Lord and relieved of all the pain. While I can’t imagine the sorrow her parents has to endure with the loss, I can only hope she’s at a better place now.

M.T., my friend, may you rest in peace.

That’s so sad but take comfort in the thought that she’s no longer suffering and is in a much, much better place. *hugs*

Dear Grace, I am so sorry to hear of your friend. It is never easy to lose people you care for. Ever. Even if they are ill and will suffer less in the next world. For we will miss them. That’s truly the hard part.
I go to a funeral next Saturday. It’s for a woman in town who just loved life! She always had a cheerful smile and sparkling eyes. Right up to the end.
We will miss them Grace, but I am so thankful that I believe in a gracious and loving God. Bless you!

How sad. Thirty is so young. I guess she accomplished all she needed to here and it was just time to go. But how nice that she made wonderful friends and impacted their lives. :)

I am very sorry to hear about your friend. I have a friend who died unexpectedly at the end of last year, and it was a total shock. I just kept remembering the college classes we took together, and how much fun we always had. He married another good friend of mine, and he left behind four young children.

I remember a day seven years ago when I got a phone call in the middle of the day from a surprising person. As soon as I saw the name on the Caller ID, I KNEW it was bad news.

My friend, Sherri, passed away very suddenly also at an early age. I still find it difficult to believe, after seven years, that she’s gone.
