first day of school

by Grace on March 12, 2007

Pristine is thrilled to go to school with yet another new uniform. A friend has asked me if it’s the norm as a three year old seems to be too young to have a ‘limited’ choice of wardrobe to be worn to school — yes, it’s kind of normal here to have uniforms. Most of the kids I see does. In Japan, only private schools require uniform during the primary years. It’s a different story here! There was even a nursery I visited that requires 5 sets of uniform for the entire week! That means once costume change per day! Diva!

I love P’s new uniform. It looks like a skirt in front but actually, it’s not. It’s a short trouser so there’s lots of room for moving and playing.

This photo was taken just after 7 am. Her hair is in shambles…well, it’s usually like that everyday but it’s particularly like that on this photo because I gave her a terrible haircut the night before!

I will not forget to mention hubby’s great participation in P’s schooling. He wakes up at 5 every morning to prepare everyone’s breakfast and P’s lunchbox. Here’s a picture of Pristine’s first lunch box:

If you have lived in Japan, you will understand all the contents of this bento (lunchbox) consisting of o-nigiri (molded rice wrapped in nori), apple slices and sausages shaped to look like little tako’s (octopus).

I like the sausages cut to look like octupus! I wish I’d thought of that when my kids were little…it’s cute!
