About
I didn’t plan to come here, it just happened. I was living and working peacefully in Japan when a call came.
My name is Grace and I am a blogging expat mom in the city that is galloping into the 21st century with break-neck speed.
Formerly living in Japan. Dished Japanese books, former university friends, the Japanese corporate working style and sushi for the promise of unending Dubai sunshine and experience living in a multi-cultural hotpot.
Currently having some complaints with the desert life but so far having a grand time.

I’m going to throw in chronicles of our life in the desert in Dubai during the first year. Please check them out and see if it interests you.
The first month I wrote about our arrival, nothing elaborate – we didn’t know what was ahead of us.
We experienced our first sandstorm and then I talked about the pursuit of happiness, a post written while I was on board a bus and stucked in heavy traffic on our 2nd month.
I am liking the lifestyle after 3 months.
The random things I experience on the 5th month is fun to recall.
The diversion roads and the overly cold malls drove me crazy on the 6th month.
We welcomed our first real deal desert summer on our 7th month.
At the peak of summer, I pondered on which is better, summer or winter?
On the 8th month, I thought a lot about the work place.
The streets of Dubai are constantly buzzing with life and it’s still interesting even after our 9th month here.
After 10 months, I learned a lot about driving here.
On the 11th month, we experienced our first Christmas in this Arab country. And you thought we are not allowed to celebrate it, right?
Time flies so fast! One year later, we are still here, hanging on with the discomforts (the heat in summer!) but happy and contented.
In case if you’ve been wondering if Dubai is safe (couldn’t blame people to be scared, it’s in the Middle East), Dubai is a safe haven in a troubled region. Take my word for it!
