If you have been here for a while, you might notice that I had been participating in the Thursday Thirteen meme every single week for 40 weeks now. I love to list down things and I get to have fun learning something along the way by reading other blogger’s T13 post. I love the spontenaiety and the variety of the lists.
Now, the moderators at Thursday Thirteen had an important announcement last week that from now on, they’ll going to have a theme every week. How uncool is that? Imagine hundreds of bloggers having the same topic at the same time? That to me is boring! They added that you can choose whether to go with the theme with your lists or make your own - – but still, why did they have this sudden themed week TT’s?
I won’t be participating posting my TT’s to adhere to the theme because I have my TT list lined up for the next 4-5 months. Shocking, I know.
What do you think of a themed Thursday Thirteen?

I have a feeling it was mostly requested by people who can’t think up of their own Thursday 13. Dili ra ba tanan tawn dali ra makagama ug mga butang (like me kay slowness gyud akong creativity). At least ginabilin nila ang choice nga pwede ra ka dili musunod.

I am not sure that I like a themed TT. I have done a few of the 10 on Tuesday meme – and it has a theme. I don’t participate at all when the theme does not resonate with me. And actually the theme for this weeks TT is okay with me…but if it’s not…I hadn’t thought of doing my own thing. But…I cannot imagine having thought of enough themes for the next 5 months. Most impressive!

My guess as well would be that they are simply responding to a request for ideas. One of the reasons I haven’t participated (other than the fact that I’m never prepared enough to do a “specific day” post) is that I don’t know if I could come up with any interesting topics to list 13 things about…

Gee, 4 – 5 months in advance?!?!?!? I’m deeply impressed.
I haven’t taken part in TT for a while now, because I just ran out of ideas. So for me this themed TT idea could be quite helpful.
Also, if you are not really required to adhere to the theme of the week, I see it as just a nice way to help creativity-challenged folk (like me), so I’m all for it.
If, on the other hand, they’d say it has to be a specific theme every week and all others get excluded, now that would be annoying.

I just read their note, and it doesn’t seem to me that this is any more than something new they’re trying, the same way we’ve had theme days in the past.
Besides, they said right there that no one was obligated to follow the theme.
Short answer? Doesn’t bother me all that much. I’ll do a theme if I feel like it and not if I don’t

I participated in TT for a few weeks, but I started having trouble coming up with topics. For that and a few other reasons, I stopped. A theme might have helped me. (I still don’t think I’m going to start Thursday Thirteening again, though.)

I feel the same way as Robin. If it’s a fun theme, I’d go with it, other than that I’ll keep playing and coming up with lists.
I am impressed 5 months in advance. I’m lucky if I make it 5 hours in advance.!! LOL! I love your lists, Grace. Looking forward to the next couple of months.
I think it’s a bad idea. The reason TT is so popular is because it allows you flexibility in what you post. I wouldn’t participate either.

Ah! Since starting TT, I didn’t participate this week b/c I couldn’t think of anything. So maybe announcing a theme will help jog my creative juices.
