My brother got married to the girl of his dreams last summer. It was a long dream they shared - they’ve been together for 12 years! Pristine and I flew to the Philippines to attend the grand event.
The couple had a Catholic wedding, held at a local church. Here are 13 photos taken during the special day and some details on what happens on a traditional Filipino (Catholic) wedding.
I’ll start the tour with the photos of the bride and the groom while they were preparing for their big day in their respective hotel rooms. The bride and groom dress in separate rooms and old tradition even says it’s bad luck if the couple meet before the wedding day.

~ the best man is helping the groom ~
It is also considered bad luck to try out the wedding dress so the bride only gave her measurements and prayed the dress to perfectly fit her on her most important day.
When everyone finished dressing up, the bride came down.
Dang, she was so ready to face a new chapter of her life!
She got into the car that will take her to church.
The groom was already waiting for his bride in the church.

The wedding started with the wedding entourage marching to the altar. The bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girls, sponsors and finally the bride:
~ the jittery bride almost cried during the wedding march ~
The groom, waiting at the altar thanked the parents of the bride by kissing their hands. He then received his bride and the wedding mass started.
The typical Filipino wedding means one full mass and within it, cord, veil, candle and coin ceremonies but I will not bore you with the lengthy details.
~ veil ceremony: to cloth the couple as one ~
~ the cord ceremony: to bind the couple as one ~
~ I do. ~
Finally, the beautiful couple is pronounced man and wife. Congratulations to Dante and Vicky!
One day when I finish sorting out all things calling for my attention, I’ll post more random photos of the wedding and at the reception.
