Jumeirah beach park is fast becoming our most favorite place in town. Who could ever resist the pristine beach, the powdery sand, the cool, clear waters? A month ago, it was still too cold for a swim but this time, it was just perfect!
As soon as little girl changed into her bathing outfit, she dragged me all the way to the water and told me to take a dip — me still in my shirt and shorts. She couldn’t wait anymore.
The weather was as usual sunny, as is almost everyday the entire year. I have one thought though, I feel like the sun is just right above us and a few meters more, we’ll be scorched. The sun’s position in this corner of the world is way different. I lived in the Philippines before and we are near the equator but nothing like this there. But don’t get me wrong, it’s not like we are being bbq-ed, lol. The heat is still in manageable range and when you bring your parasol to the beach or relax in the shade, the shade and the cool wind totally makes you ignore the desert heat. By the way, we have max temp of 35C lately and minimum of 25C in the morning and afternoon.
~I am still in my wet shirt here, of course I couldn’t post pics of myself in an official bathing suit — at least not right now!~
By now you would understand the stranger who came up to me and told me my skin color tells that I’ve been in Dubai for years now (when in truth just been here for 3 months). M and Pristine basked in the sun, maybe longer than I did but I am the only one toasted.
After the swim, we placed our picnic mat under the tree and took a nap. This is a beach park so there are lots and lots of trees you will forget this used to be a dry, barren land of sand. The government made tons of effort to make Dubai look like any other place in the world, and much more.
From left to right: afternoon nap under the trees; unusual birds; inside the park
We actually slept for more than an hour. The cool wind from the beach, the smell of the grasses and the serene atmosphere is a real treat. We should do this more often.
