blog entry in less than two minutes

by Grace on October 10, 2007

Thud! Did you hear that? You just landed in Dubai, United Arab Emirates! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

This is a very forced entry and I will be typing as fast as I can. Get it over with as soon as possible, so to speak. Honestly, I don’t want to blog about this, lest you will look down on me and think I am dirty. The truth is I am dreading every second my fingertips runs through this keyboard. Letter by letter my spine is tingling – with anger, with frustration and with lots of creepiness.

There is something inside my keyboard, AGAIN. Right under these plastic letters I am pounding right now is a cockroach that chose the inside of my keyboard as its comfort zone!!

Two minutes ago, I could see the brown, shiny body running around from beneath letters to letters. Now, its dead body is resting, upside down underneath, just between “A” and “W”. Cause of death: asphyxation due to poisoning from “The Original Laxmanrekhaa”, a cockroach killing solution blah blah in chalk form, from India of course.

I arrived this morning ready to work but instead find the resident again so I peppered the roach with chalk powder. My goodness, this has got to stop! I could see him in white cloak and wriggling, antennaes calling for SOS. After two minutes, I succeeded my first murder attempt.

To keep these creepy crawlies away at least for the next couple of days, I have to keep the chalk powder (my keyboard is now gray instead of black) and not wipe it. My fingertips are full of poison. Let’s pray I won’t be senile enough to rub my eyes this afternoon.

Grace, go directly to whoever it is in your company that’s responsible for procurement and GET A NEW KEYBOARD!

Let someone else deal with the cockroach. There’s probably some old crumbs in there attracting them. Keyboards are cheap these days, just dump it and get another. Besides, you don’t want to be breathing roach powder for the next 6 months!

Oh that is terrible. Yes, dump the keyboard and get a new one!

Why have all the roaches decided to invade your keyboard lately? There must be something in there that’s attracting them. You should definitely get a new one . . . NOW! Yuck!

don’t do that! there’s the possibility that you will forget.

ask for another keyboard. and then bring it home with you.

Robin – what annoys me so much is that my PC and keyboard is new so I don’t think there are any crumbs inside to attract the roach. I actually PLUCKED all the keys out and checked. Nothing inside. I just started this job last January and the keyboard is still clean.

Anyway, I am still going to heed your advice and let them buy another keyboard for me. I will let the office boy play with the roach.

Hi Kailani – Yuck indeed. There is nothing in my keyboard as I plucked all the keys out and checked it myself. It’s new so no crumbs there too and I don’t eat in my desk.

I am going to get a new one as this is getting so irritating!

i hate roaches! good that you can still type ‘above’ the dead body of a roach.

Hi Bin – The keys in the keyboard are a little bit elevated so I don’t have to touch the roach while typing, but I still typed as fast as I can though!
